Maplewood Cemetery was founded before 1845 in what was once Waynesfield Township. As the township was divided into smaller divisions this area became part of Adams Township. The Town Hall stood  at the northwest corner of Bryne Rd & the Chicago Pike, (now Airport Highway), and the cemetery was located on the southeast corner . It was acquired by the city of Toledo through the annexation of the township.
